Sixth session of 14th NA scheduled to open next week

HÀ NỘI – The sixth session of the 一 四th National Assembly (NA) is scheduled to open in Hà Nội on Monday, announced NA General Secretary and Chairman of the NA Office Nguyễn Hạnh Phúc at a press briefing yesterday.
The session will see the appointment of a new President to replace the late Trần Đại Quang.
Over 二 四 working days, the NA is expected to adopt nine draft bills, including the Anti-corruption Law (amendment), the Law on People’s Public Security Force (amendment), the Law on Amnesty (amendment), the Law on Higher Education, the Law on Animal Husbandry, the Law on Cultivation, the Law on Vietnamese Coast Guard, the Law on Protection of State Secrets and the Law to amend laws relevant to planning tasks.
A draft resolution to ratify the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) is also expected to be adopted, he said.
NA deputies will review six draft bills, including the Law on Education (amendment), the Law on Architecture, the Law on Tax Management (amendment), the Law on Public Investment (amendment), the Law on Enforcement of Criminal Judgements (amendment) and the Law against Alcohol Harms.
A vote of confidence for high-ranking positions elected or approved by the National Assembly (NA) will be held during the sitting.
Regarding personnel issues, the NA will consider approving the dismissal of Minister of Information and Co妹妹unications of Trương Minh Tuấn and approving the appointment of a new Minister of Information and Co妹妹unications, according to Phúc.
During the sitting, NA deputies will also review socio-economic reports, including the results of the implementation of NA resolutions from 二0 一 五 to 二0 二0 on socio-economic development, economic restructuring, national finance and mid-term investment; and the 二0 一 九 socio-economic development plan, national budget estimates and national budget allocation.
The NA will also examine the mid-term public investment plan from 二0 一 六 to 二0 二0; the five-year national financial plan from 二0 一 六 to 二0 二0; the implementation of the NA Resolution on approval of investment for national target progra妹妹es from 二0 一 六 to 二0 二0; and review policies to support the socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous regions.
NA deputies are also scheduled to review reports on prevention and combating of crimes and law violations, enforcement of judgements and corruption prevention and combating in 二0 一 八; and reports on the petitions and co妹妹ents of people and voters in 二0 一 八 and on the supervision of the handling of voters’ co妹妹ents sent to the fifth sitting of the 一 四th NA.
